The Lion King 1994 was Disney's first animated film when it was released based on an original story instead of an existing one. The story is very much inspired by the 1960s animated film by William Shakespeare Hamlet and Osamu Tezuka, Kimba the White Lion, following Simba's feet (JD McCrary), a young lion will succeed his father, Mufasa (James Earl Jones) in the future.
