It really depends on the cat. If your cat was raised with other cats or lived with other cats prior to living with you, he may appreciate the companionship of another cat, especially if he is frequently left alone in your home for more than a few hours. In all likelihood, however, he is probably perfectly content to be the only cat. Take this as a cautionary tale: Our current rescue cat, Sundance, was the replacement for our senior cat Midnight, who had passed away, and our junior cat Robespierre, seemed to miss her. Midnight and Robespierre weren’t always affectionate, but they were very tolerant of each other, as long as Robes respected that Midnight was in charge. When Sundance arrived, he and Robes had a somewhat testy relationship, only rarely affectionate, until Robes died. When we adopted Sundance, we were told that he had most recently been living with his mother, who had been adopted out. We assumed he would want a companion after Robes died. We were wrong. We brought home the sweetest little cat from Animal Control and named her Widget. She was the kind of cat who actually liked having her belly rubbed as would let you play with her toe beans. But Sundance hated her. He would attack her whenever he got the chance. She always tried to retreat and hide, but he just wouldn’t leave her alone. It was his territory, and he wanted her out. We tried everything short of an in-home animal behaviorist consultation for two years. We finally ended up rehoming her with friends when we moved. They are both much happier now.

If you are sure that he was kidnapped, then there is a 90% chance that you would not get it back even if he was registered or not in any Kennel Club of the world. The reassuring 10% comes when the dog owners have not removed the microchip or by a miracle, the dog recognizes your home and gets back. YOU SHOULD REPORT IT IN THE NEAREST POLICE STATION as although they would not take any action against it, if by any chance, you find your dog back, then the report will help you in the future. If you think that you had lost it instead of it being kidnapped, you should search near the spot where it was lost or you last remember it was. You should also search for places that the dog recognizes, or some parks or other fancy stuff that you think would attract dogs near that spot. If you still could not find the dog then wait and also remember, “ YOU SHOULD REPORT IT IN THE NEAREST POLICE STATION ”, as it helps.
