It’s true that Biden plans to give away some vaccines to other countries, but his reasons are sound: The vaccines he’s giving away right now are the AstraZeneca brand, which has not been approved for use by US health authorities. If he wasn’t giving them away, they would be collecting dust. Mass vaccination in the US won’t end covid. America relies heavily on foreign trade and tourism, and even if every US citizen gets vaccinated, covid will still have an impact on America. Eventually, every country needs to be vaccinated, and Biden has stated publically that if the US has extra vaccines - that is, more vaccines than are needed for every US citizen - then he’ll give the extras to ally countries. Trump ran heavily on an America First/isolationist policy. It has badly, badly hurt America’s image in the eyes of pretty much every other nation on the planet. One of Biden’s campaign promises was that he’d help rebuild the country’s image, and in addition to things like rejoining the Paris Climate Accords, giving away extra vaccines is a really smart diplomatic move. So yes, Biden is giving away vaccines to other countries. But he’s still the US president, and that means he’s helping his own citizens first - the vaccines that are going to foreign aid are the ones that wouldn’t be used otherwise. And speaking as a citizen of one of those foreign countries, let me tell you, I’m glad America’s on its way back.

According to the Constitution, he doesn’t have the authority to do that. Even if they were by Congressional legislation and the states ratified the Amendment, the cartels in Mexico would smuggle so many into the U.S., there would barely be a difference. America has many other problems Europe and Japan don’t. Most notably, almost 3 million home invasions per year, 90% of which involve firearms. 1/2 of those end up with someone getting raped or being the victim of an aggravated assault, regardless if they resist. Police do not respond quickly in the cities. Often it takes 30 minutes for an officer to respond to any call. Lastly, something changed in the minds of children in the mid-’90s which not only made them think shooting their peers was a good idea, but also something they should do. Something to remember also. 95% of all crimes committed with firearms occur in just 7 cities. Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Oakland, CA, and Philadelphia. If you take these cities out of the statistics, the U.S. is near the very bottom of gun violence in the world. In the end though, when you read the FBI statistics, the U.S. won’t necessarily be safer without guns. Many people are killed by many other means and sometimes many at the same time.

But, at the same time, they aren’t going to support any of Trump’s would-be “political heirs”, unless that person also embodies that same wish fulfillment. Sorry, Ted Cruz, you just don’t have the kind of in-your-face extravagance of Donald Trump! Sorry, Josh Hawley, you are too young and good looking; Trump’s base can’t put themselves in your shoes. Sorry, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert! The base stayed for the racism but they came for the fantasy! Sorry, Trump-kids! You can’t claim to be “self-made”! No, Daddy wasn’t either, but he claimed he was and that satisfied that wish fulfillment itch! Sorry, Lindsey! Sorry, Mitch! I know you guys think that you can cater to the base and convince them to keep voting Republican, but these people want “Reality TV”, not reality. Politics bores them, but Trump is the embodiment of everything that they wish they had - and they will be loyal, not exactly to him, but that fantasy of their deepest darkest desires forever. So anyone who steps on that fantasy gets expelled from their circle, thrown off of the island, and banished from the herd. Only those who support the fantasy are allowed in. Sidney Powell no longer supports the fantasy, so out she goes!

The fact is when these hosts were mocking Trump, it wasn’t about Trump. It was about us. The difference is, we can see it. I don’t know if liberals actually can see this, if they can’t or if they’re choosing not to see it. But in every anti Trump joke there was an anti Trump voter subtext. How do we know this? How do we know it’s about the voters, not the man? Simple. How many Obama and Biden jokes have there been on that level? Late night hosts collectively dedicated hours to a story about Trump not liking walking down ramps for some reason. They spent barely any time covering Biden falling down the stairs of Air Force One. They’ve spent barely any time talking about Biden’s speech gaffs. They didn’t mock Biden refusing to debate Putin the way you know they would have mocked Trump for refusing to debate with any world leader. Because it’s not about the men, it’s about the voters. If you’re mocking a president you are, at least somewhat, mocking people who voted for them. Late night hosts won’t do this in any serious way with Biden because they would feel the butt of the joke. Because they understand, from when they joked about Trump, that the butt of the joke is the voters. So they’ll be cautious about mocking Biden because they know it would alienate his voters the same way that virtually every major award and late night show in America is now just the “give Democrats a pat on the back” show, hence their collective decline. You alienated half the country and you’re avoiding mocking the left because you don’t want to alienate what audience you have left.

Well, they are most certainly missing something, aren’t they? What a terrible situation for your dog. Not great for you either. a) ask for a referral to a specialty clinic. One or the other or both of the vets you already saw ought to have suggested taking this dog to a specialist at that kind of clinic without being asked. Since they didn’t, and since that type of clinic normally won’t see you without a referral, first ask and then demand a referral. If your dog is in extreme pain and not eating, this is an emergency, so tell them you have to have your dog seen today. I guess I would start by suggesting an internist. Or maybe an orthopedic specialist. I can say, if you wind up in the wrong department, the specialty clinic will shuffle you around until you see the right specialist. b) find a vet school near-ish where you live, get the number of their clinic, call them, and tell them you’re bringing your dog in as an emergency. This will jump you over the queue of people waiting to see their doctors for less important things. Describe what you are seeing. Start with “extreme pain.” Tell them you’ll be arriving in an hour, or whatever. You will be seen first by a vet student, then by a triage vet, and then by whatever specialist they think is most appropriate. They will work you on that day, but it may take a while, so bring a book or something. Specialty clinics are good. If anything, the clinics at vet schools are even better. These practices see everything, including the weird stuff, all the time. I hope very much that whomever you see at a practice like this will at once understand what is going on with your dog and that they will be able to help.

I also protected & cared for some Thai Wild Crocs in the nearby Mangrove swamp, & a very large Python; plus numerous smaller snakes, birds, mice & Scorpions. 'Pythagoras' as I called him, was wild, huge & always came to see me when I walked in his territory. I roughly measured him at around five meters, about 16 feet, weighed around 80 Kg or 175 pounds. Thankfully he genuinely was 'friendly', since he was big enough to hurt me, or take any of the dogs I walked with. Python lived just behind my home, could easily have come in, but kept to himself. So far as I am concerned all life is Sentient; though of course, the level of sophistication varies. But every creature I ever encountered had a personality, habits & responded to kindness; or even simply company. I'm not sure where you are, but if it is the US then I'm shocked to hear of strays. Forgive me please, I'm an old Brit who used to a different kind if normal. Anyway, good luck with the dogs; you can Train them, but it takes time. It may be simpler to 'train/educate' the passers-by?

You have a couple of options here. First, you could take the cat to a shelter or a cat rescue, letting them know you found a stray and that you yourself want to adopt the cat after a period of time. I would bet good money your neighbor will not be interested enough to check the shelters when his cat goes missing. After a while, the cat becomes available, you adopt it, all is well. Second, you could just spirit the animal away into your household. It would have to be an indoor cat, obviously. I doubt your neighbor will ask if you have seen it, but get ready to be a good liar, just in case. Whatever you do, act soon. I waited to adopt a feral cat that I had finally tamed. I called him Mr. Lau. He was a beautiful tuxedo cat. I already have 4 cats so I told myself I couldn’t take him. The last time I saw him, he looked thin and sick. He was still friendly and ate heartily. But I never saw him again after that and I am fairly sure he died. Had I gotten him vet care, he might be alive. It broke my heart.

But Dogs are not stupid; they have long memories.

You do not need a pair of budgies, cocktails, or parrots, provided that you have time to spend with your bird. No bird will be happy alone if they are just thrown in a cage and ignored. They will need toys to stimulate them. They will need to interact with you. They will bond with you. All these birds can learn tricks including mimicking speech. They tend to learn better in a one-on-one relationship with their owner. Most of these birds can be very affectionate toward their owner. Get a good book about bird care and training before you get your bird so you understand what is involved in their training and care. Talk to people you know that have had birds. Talk to a bird breeder or your local pet shop to get more information. Your job is to make sure that you really want a bird and that you can care for it properly.

You cannot stop them as long as they are strays. They are not really protecting you; they are taking care of their meal ticket. On the other hand, if you stopped feeding them, or caring for them they would gradually lose their motivation. But Dogs are not stupid; they have long memories. Until very recently I lived in Asia, Thailand mostly; where I cared for around 100 stray dogs and 20+ cats. They very quickly learned the sound of my footsteps, my vehicle & my most common times to visit. When I had to leave recently it broke my heart, but I was able to pass the duty on to others, so I don't feel too bad. I hope someday I may return, I know that no matter how long I have been away the survivors will know me, greet me & show great emotion.

Beyond this, there is little that you can do without a veterinarian’s help. I’m afraid that there is no one treatment that will help all the possible diseases that cause skin problems in dogs. There are many, many different conditions that can cause rashes and hair loss in dogs, including infestation with parasites (some of which are not killed by flea products), bacterial or fungal infections, allergies, irritation from chemicals in the water that he swims in or on surfaces that he sleeps on, genetic abnormalities, immune system diseases, and skin cancer. Unfortunately, there is no single treatment that will help all (or even most) of these different problems. Even if you knew the exact cause of a particular dog’s problem, none of these conditions can be cured with a single treatment. Most skin conditions in dogs require multiple treatments given repeatedly over a period of weeks or months, and some cannot be cured at all. This is not easy with dogs that you may or may not see every day. The dog won’t understand that you are trying to help him because your treatments won’t usually result in immediate relief. Dogs aren’t stupid and they are likely to stop coming around if their visits always result in unpleasant consequences such as being forced to take medicine, being sprayed with insecticide, or getting a bath. Street dogs aren’t as trusting or tolerant as pets that know you wouldn’t hurt them.

The single most useful thing you can do for a street dog with a skin problem is to treat him with a nonprescription long-acting insecticide that kills fleas, ticks, and lice.

The single most useful thing you can do for a street dog with a skin problem is to treat him with a nonprescription long-acting insecticide that kills fleas, ticks, and lice. These pests are found on every dog, are the most common cause of rashes and hair loss, and, even if not the cause of the problem, generally make other skin problems worse. The type that is applied by squirting a few drops onto the dog’s back or neck (“spot-on” products) and lasts for a whole month is best. They are easy to apply without touching the dog’s mouth or risking getting bitten (don’t forget that a street dog could be a rabies carrier) and won’t annoy the dog as much as a spray or bath. If the condition improves, you should repeat it once a month. If you know where he sleeps, cleans the area thoroughly. If he has a washable mat or blanket, wash it in very hot water and laundry detergent and dry in the sun. If he sleeps on straw, discard it and put down fresh bedding. Then spray the bedding and surrounding area with a long-acting insecticide that kills fleas AND PREVENTS FLEAS FROM REPRODUCING (often called an insect growth inhibitor or regulator). Don’t spray insecticide on the dog if you have already applied a product to his skin- too much insecticide is toxic.

They are hunters. Remember that. And play with them as if they are hunting…they cuddle like puppies only they are tiny. And their purring and kneading on you will put you to sleep. Claws? They don’t bite…their claws are like needles abs they naturally sharpen them. Get a scratching post so you can redirect your cat to scratch or sharpen their claws on a scratching post. They will climb you. And everything else in sight. Don’t get them declawed. It’s very cruel. The vet can put something on their claws so you don’t get ripped up. I think they are called soft paws. As they grow…they learn to retract their claws. Just know that like a puppy’s teeth…they are like needles that hurt. My cats always ruled the house. My dogs would drop food out of their mouth for the cats…their claws hurt when they slap. Cats are wonderful! Enjoy? And love. They love to love. Just like dogs do.
