The fact is when these hosts were mocking Trump, it wasn’t about Trump. It was about us. The difference is, we can see it. I don’t know if liberals actually can see this, if they can’t or if they’re choosing not to see it. But in every anti Trump joke there was an anti Trump voter subtext. How do we know this? How do we know it’s about the voters, not the man? Simple. How many Obama and Biden jokes have there been on that level? Late night hosts collectively dedicated hours to a story about Trump not liking walking down ramps for some reason. They spent barely any time covering Biden falling down the stairs of Air Force One. They’ve spent barely any time talking about Biden’s speech gaffs. They didn’t mock Biden refusing to debate Putin the way you know they would have mocked Trump for refusing to debate with any world leader. Because it’s not about the men, it’s about the voters. If you’re mocking a president you are, at least somewhat, mocking people who voted for them. Late night hosts won’t do this in any serious way with Biden because they would feel the butt of the joke. Because they understand, from when they joked about Trump, that the butt of the joke is the voters. So they’ll be cautious about mocking Biden because they know it would alienate his voters the same way that virtually every major award and late night show in America is now just the “give Democrats a pat on the back” show, hence their collective decline. You alienated half the country and you’re avoiding mocking the left because you don’t want to alienate what audience you have left.
