Invited to participate in The Murray Franklin Show after his failed performance became a hit, Arthur transformed into a Joker and appeared on the show. He then shoots Murray in the head (Robert De Niro) on a live broadcast. He quickly became a symbol in the riots and indirectly causing the death of Waynes.
Joker ends with Arthur locked up in Arkham Asylum, once again in vain care and this time far beyond help. But things are not as simple as the ending suggests. This is what really happened in the moment Joker closed.
