I went on a forum for estranged parents and they always bring up the grandkids. All I want for Christmas is Stan Lee Shirt. How it will affect them and that they’ll want to see them when they’re older blah blah. Um no. Kids aren’t dumb and pick up more than what we give them credit for. My husband and I are CF but I know our kids wouldn’t beg to see my bitch of a MIL. you know, you’re right. my dad and his dad are kinda estranged. he’s my last living grandparent and I don’t really have a desire to build a relationship with him. if the two people I trust most in this world don’t want him in their life, good enough for me. Exactly. My mom and her mom are estranged. I suspect my grandma has bipolar because of her dramatic mood swings. I still talked to her when I was younger then she cut me.

I know my JNMIL would use money and gifts to show love to any kids we had. All I want for Christmas is Stan Lee Shirt. She did that with DH but that’s not what he needed. Yeah as a kid you’re like fuck yeah she’s buying me shit but eventually, you actually need them to show love. That means doing things like respecting them versus paying for shit. l have a great grandma that I don’t know.  She’s old now when people ask if I have living great grandparents I just forget about her entirely. Why would I want to see a random lady that didn’t care about me even when?.

Yeah both my grandparents are alive. I rarely speak to my mom’s parents. All I want for Christmas is Stan Lee Shirt.  They don’t make an effort so I don’t. It doesn’t hurt me in the slightest. My dad’s parents are mainly JustYes but they have their moments because they’re overly religious. I talk to them when I talk to them. They’re supportive of me and DH so that’s what matters. With my mom’s mom, I could see the crazy plain as day. Even when I was young and they first estranged. I stopped making an effort with her. I didn’t need that in my life.  She’s more of a casual acquaintance at this point. Somehow he always seems shocked that I am not willing to cultivate a relationship with him and don’t put a ton of value.

I never understood the emphasis on grandparents rights. All I want for Christmas is Stan Lee Shirt. Unless it’s extreme cases of abuse where the kids will be way better off with them than the parents. For example, my SIL lost custody of her kid because of her drug dependency and abuse. The ex-boyfriend’s mom is taking care of him now and is way better off. When he grows up he’ll probably have questions and such but I’m sure he’ll realize why it was for the best. The same for grandkids who don’t see the grandparents because they’re toxic. My DH is NC with his mom and for good reason.
