But also- what’s with an 18 yr old motel receptionist going along with the cops to a potential crime scene/ location of interest? That’s not very typical, to say the least. And waving her right into the house? Even if it actually had been all clear, “oh sure kid walk right in and check this out with me” isn’t exactly normal. Gotta love teens that think they’re cops and can save the day just cause they saw something ‘weird’. Never the less, curious to read more of this story! Agreed on all counts. I like the basic premise and I’m going to continue reading, but the idea of a receptionist accompanying a police investigation — and being left on her own with no supervision to the extent that she was able to remove an object from a crime scene and potentially compromise an investigation — really stretching plausibility on this one.

Just a guess, but maybe cos that 18yo was the only person who knew what “blondie” looks like since the security tapes and everything was taken? Perhaps not typical, but an entire floor of people disappearing (and it sounds like they might be the figurines) isn’t exactly typical either. Sketch artists, photo lineup identification after finding someone, suspect lineup identification at the station….. all safe usual methods to get around her having seen the two suspects. Is OP a police officer too? I’m just not understanding why a hotel clerk would go with one police officer to a possibly dangerous crime scene. Is OP the officer’s partner or something?

Why do I get the weirdest feeling those tiny figurines are the folks from the 4th floor? Dachshund dog pocket Shirt. He shrunk them down into toys somehow & told the blond he’d restore her kid since you got away. Cant wait to see the next part, you have my interest piqued & to see if I’m right about the leather jacket. My thoughts exactly. I wonder if the weight of the plastic teddy bear is a hint to it all. Do they somehow retain original weights? But then, I have a hard time imagining all of them getting moved to that house very easily.
