I need to go to NYC in early January for a weekend. SW only had 2 direct flights for the outbound, 1 at ~ 9 am and 1 at about 5 pm. United has ~8-10 in that time frame, at essentially the same price. The only time SW is a “no-brainer” is if live in an SW hub city and can make great use out of the companion pass. Otherwise, you might as well just go with the lowest cost carrier, which frequently isn’t SW based on my experience. SW used to be the low-cost carrier on the block, but nowadays. I find they’re often the same price or higher than the legacy carriers and often use airports with no lounges. I don’t mind flying them too much on short hops like HOU-DAL but anything beyond that… no thanks. Could someone verify that Marriott Points – or StarPoints. ‘Transferable to/from Spouses’ – IE, you can do what Jamie Said with ‘half the effort’ per person.
